waiting

we're just pottering around close to home these days as we adjust to the new school routines. we went to the nearby park today before home time. i find myself looking for things that would interest him as we spend the days keeping busy, but always awaiting his return. he likes to ride his scooter home so we often bring it with us. this little one he gets so excited and speed crawls to the door when it's time to go and collect him. the days are so different now. it's safe to say i, we, yes even the baby, really miss him.

at the weekend

we had a picnic on friday night in a park near us with huge trees, where we sat and ate chicken with orange and tomato glaze from my new favourite cookbook and a boot fair find apples for jam. and explored, climbed trees, made fairy houses and looked at the sky. such a nice evening. on sunday still trying to soak up the last of the sunshine we went to the same place for an apple day. of course i forgot my camera, and we couldn't find a toffee apple anywhere, but still it was fun, the children played and the grown ups drank locally brewed cider and we all ate beech nuts from the tree we were sitting under until it was time to go home with handfuls of colourful leaves and lots to dream about.

hope you had a lovely weekend,

tea and toast

i'm on my 3rd cup already or is it 4th?! it's a yummy chai by clipper and homemade jam by the little sis, but still, that doesn't make up for the unsettling feeling that has taken hold. the baby is in bed and my big boy is at school. yes i know i can't quite believe it. i thought it was still summer, that there was plenty of time left. but autumn is rearing it's lovely crisp, cool, colourful head and that means big changes for all of us here especially for my just turned 4 year old. and at the moment i'm not feeling too good about it.

hope you had a lovely summer,

and see you soon i hope,

morocco

i'm still dreaming of our wonderful holiday even though it was weeks ago! we had such a fantastic time, the kids went with the flow and we just took things really slowly. time in marrakech, a week on the beach and a short trip to the atlas mountains. so much to see and experience, warm weather for a change, a bit too hot actually, at times. and the best bit, being able to spend all that time together. so lovely.

slow progress

we're back from morocco, we had a fantastic time. i'll tell more another day.

i just wanted to show some pictures of the allotment. me and the littlest spent nearly the whole day up there. such sweet company.

my parents have been so great in getting us started. they helped us put up a fence and got us a shed and my mum has been weeding and planting with me and my aunty gave me some plants. thank you so much. we have a long way to go, but i am just doing it little by little. i spent most of the day weeding the potatoes that were starting to look a bit sorry. they look much better don't you think mum. and i have put sand around some of the plants to try and stop the slugs that are munching quicker than i am planting, so we'll see.

coming home from the allotment i always feel relaxed and grateful for a moment of quiet, even when i have a little one in tow.

days go by

"it's a beautiful grind"
peter case

we went to see peter case recently and that line sums my life up perfectly.

we dyed some eggs. easter had long gone but i didn't care.

poor stan broke his arm in the park, he's been so good about it and his cast finally came off after 4 weeks, hooray!

somebody around here has started crawling. i'd forgotten what it's like, he's into everything.

cuddles with daddy are the best.

first taste of candy floss at the may fair. followed by lots of energetic running!

fish and chips at our allotment. yes we finally got one. i'm so excited.

my new ergo baby carrier. i love it and love having my baby on my back.

on the way to the allotment. i think it's so pretty up on that hill.

we're all excited because we're off to morocco tomorrow for a couple of weeks. life is mostly very good.

see you soon,

plymouth to paris by pedal power

we have all gone a bit bike mad lately. the whole family cycled 12km off road the other day, franc was exhausted, it was a great achievement for a just turned 5 year old. we were very proud.

i have just bought a new, second hand bike and am so excited about seeing it soon. and finally and most importantly steph is cycling from plymouth to paris in order to raise money for the work his mum does in nicaragua. here is her blog which explains in great detail all that great things that she does. if you would like to support her efforts please scroll down and find the donate now button. steph has funded the cycle trip himself so all donations will go to the women and children of matagalpa
